Date: Saturday, January 17, 2025
Location: Blackfin Sportfishing, Punta Banda area, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico
Group: Kids from the orphanage, counselors, and instructors
Theme: Learn, fish, and take home your own gear — a memorable, hands-on experience!
9:00 AM – Arrival & Welcome
• Kids arrive at Blackfin Sportfishing.
• Meet counselors, instructors, and the Blackfin team.
• Quick safety briefing and introductions to make everyone feel excited and comfortable.
• Tip: Dress in layers — typical January weather in Ensenada is mild (daytime highs around 65–70°F / 18–21°C, cooler mornings/evenings around 50°F / 10°C), with possible light breeze near the coast.
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Fishing Rod Wrapping Workshop
• Hands-on class: Learn the fine art of wrapping your very own fishing rod!
• Instructors guide each child step-by-step to customize and build their personal rod.
• All materials provided — a fun, skill-building activity that gives them something unique to keep forever.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM – Lunch Break
• Enjoy a relaxed lunch (provided or arranged by the group/Blackfin).
• Time to chat, rest, and share stories from the morning workshop.
• Perfect chance for photos and bonding!
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Beach Fishing Adventure
• Head to a nearby beach spot (Punta Banda area offers great nearby beach/inshore fishing opportunities, with calm, protected waters ideal for beginners).
• Everything provided: rods, reels, tackle, bait, and instruction.
• Kids fish with guidance from instructors and counselors — targeting local species like corvina, calico bass, or other inshore fun catches.
• Focus on safety, fun, and learning basic fishing skills.
• At the end, each child takes home their custom-wrapped rod, reel, and any other tackle/gear used during the day!
5:00 PM – Wrap-Up & Departure
• Group debrief: Share highlights, photos, and any catches of the day.
• Clean up and pack up.
• Kids head home with their new fishing gear, proud memories, and hopefully a few stories (and fish!) to tell.
